Printable Scattergories Game
Scattergories is one of my favorite games to play with the family. We recently played with kids starting at 10 and up to adults and we had a blast. We didn’t have enough lists for all of us so I created these scattergories list printables and answer sheet printables in case you need more like us. I also created a bonus scattergories list printable for Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, and Easter.
Scattergories Rules
How to play scattergories is pretty simple:
- Make sure each player has a scattergories list and an answer sheet and something to write with.
- Roll a dice like this with many letters to decide which letter to use.
- Start a timer for 3 minutes.
- Players try to think of words that fit in each category that start with the determined letter. Only one answer per category is permitted.
- When the timer stops players compare answers. Any matching answers don’t count. Answers with double or triple letters, for example: Roger Rabbit, get double or triple points. Words modified with adjectives, for example: happy dog, for the letter H don’t count unless the adjective is a significant part of the answer. An example of an adjective that might count is: red cabbage because the red is a distinguishing part of the answer.
How long is the scattergories timer?
- I timed our scattergories timer and it came to roughly 3 minutes.

Paper
I often get asked what paper I recommend. For regular copy paper this 5 ream case of paper is one of the better deals. For cardstock I really like this card stock paper on amazon. It is much cheaper than I have found in stores and has a good thickness for most projects without being so thick that it jams the printer.
